Most locals tested near Blackpool factory have high levels of lasting chemicals

70% of 49 people tested who live near the AGC Chemicals Europe factory in Thornton-Cleveleys, north of Blackpool, had combined high levels of PFAS — chemicals that linger in the body and environment — above America's 20 ng/ml marker for greater health risk. Findings came out in the week before 28 September 2026. The UK has no such blood measure.
