School workers told to remove Aotearoa from papers

Workers at the Education Ministry, which runs schools, told RNZ bosses said aloud to remove ‘Aotearoa’ and other Māori words from official papers. Bosses would not put the order on paper when asked. The ministry said it left out ‘Aotearoa’ to match The New Zealand Curriculum, the national plan for schools. It would not say why nothing was in writing.
