Ministry staff say they were told to remove ‘Aotearoa’

Several Education Ministry staff told RNZ their managers told them in person to remove ‘Aotearoa’ and other Māori words from official papers. Staff said managers would not write the instruction down when asked. The ministry said it left out ‘Aotearoa’ to match the wording in The New Zealand Curriculum. It would not say why nothing was put in writing.
