Meta pays recycler for pollution saved by reusing plastic

Meta has paid Cambridge company MacroCycle for pollution avoided by recycling PET plastic, the kind used in bottles, its first deal of this type. The payments work like certificates for the savings and give MacroCycle reliable income for its first U.S. factory. Meta can count the savings against its own pollution and get cleaner material for packaging and devices.
