Microsoft lifts Surface starting prices, makes 16GB memory standard

Microsoft will price the 12-inch Surface Pro Second Edition from $1,149.99, up from $799.99, and the 13-inch Surface Laptop Second Edition from $1,199.99, up from $899.99. Both now start with 16GB of memory — RAM, the short-term workspace for running apps — expandable to 24GB, with the 8GB option discontinued.
