Labour hopeful steps back from next election

Warrick Cleine will no longer stand for Labour at the 2026 election, giving up 30th spot on its backup list for Parliament seats. Leader Chris Hipkins said on 22 September Cleine, who heads KPMG’s Vietnam and Cambodia business, cannot campaign or move from Vietnam. Hipkins said it was Cleine’s choice due to changed circumstances.
