Government still in charge despite low poll numbers

Neither major party reached 30 percent in the latest Taxpayers' Union-Curia poll — Labour got 25.9, National 29. But the governing parties would still win 64 of Parliament's 120 seats. The opposition vote is split among Labour, the Greens (13.9 percent), and Opportunity (4.5 percent). Under MMP, a party needs 5 percent to get seats, and Opportunity fell short.
