Albertans to vote Oct. 19 on staying in Canada or holding a vote on leaving

Premier Danielle Smith has set an Oct. 19 vote asking Albertans whether to stay in Canada or hold a later, legally binding vote on separating. Smith says she will vote to stay. Separatist leader Jeffrey Rath calls it a betrayal; NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi and organizer Thomas Lukaszuk want it cancelled, citing the U.S. trade war.
