Google to cap how much memory phone apps can use, starting 2027

Starting February 2027, Google will limit how much memory each Android app can use, enforced through its Play Store. Apps that use too much may run slowly, get shut down, or become harder to find on the store. The limits, already on Pixel phones, will apply across brands with 4GB to 16GB+ of RAM. Google says RAM shortages prompted the change.
