Meta's Teen Safety Deal Depends on TikTok and YouTube Signing On
Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion to settle teen safety complaints from 52 state and territorial attorneys general. But $5.3 billion of that only gets paid if TikTok and YouTube agree to similar rules: limiting teens to 60 minutes of daily use per platform for ten years and blocking access overnight from 10 PM to 7 AM. Meta sent both an open letter asking them to join. A judge still must approve.
