Prime Minister says no vote on uniting Ireland during this parliament

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said there will be no vote on uniting Ireland before the next election, the BBC reported on 27 August 2026. Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Chris Bryant called a vote "not top of my priorities" in July. Sinn Féin wants a public discussion group to plan for unity outside Parliament.
