Major Kusama Art Show Opens Weeks After the Artist's Death at 97

Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist famous for her polka-dot paintings and rooms lined with mirrors that make spaces look endless, died at 97 on August 27, 2026, according to Kyodo and Reuters. A large exhibition looking back at her entire career opens September 11 at Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum. A second show runs this year in Cologne. Both were planned while she was alive.
