A data centre is a large building packed with computers that store and process online information. Alberta is welcoming Meta's proposed $13-billion version north of Edmonton. Yet the province blocked a similar project in the town of Olds because it sat too close to people's homes. Premier Danielle Smith's government held town halls to review the rules. Residents told Technology Minister Nate Glubish they want stronger protections.
