Flash Flood on Nepal-Tibet Border Kills at Least 18, Hundreds Missing

A sudden flood along the Bhote Koshi River killed at least 18 people on August 26, with hundreds of tourists still missing on the Nepal-Tibet border. A similar flood in July killed at least nine. Nepal's climate agency blamed that earlier flood on a melting glacier upstream in Tibet collapsing and releasing a wall of water — a danger that may keep repeating.
