Nepal-Tibet Border Flash Flood Kills at Least 18, Hundreds of Tourists Missing
A flash flood along the Bhote Koshi River on the Nepal-Tibet border killed at least 18 people on August 26, with hundreds of tourists reported missing. The same river flooded in July 2025, killing at least nine. Nepal's climate body linked that earlier event to a Tibetan glacial lake drainage, pointing to upstream glacial instability as a recurring trigger for downstream catastrophe.
