Amazon to Acquire Maker of Popular Free Data Tool DuckDB

DuckLabs, creator of DuckDB — a free tool for analyzing large datasets with over one million daily downloads — will join Amazon Web Services. The deal is expected to close in early September 2026. The 30-person Amsterdam team stays intact and keeps developing DuckDB and related projects. DuckDB remains free to use, and an independent foundation keeps oversight. The two teams worked together for over a year.
