DuckLabs to Join AWS in Acquisition Closing Early September

DuckLabs, maker of the open-source analytics engine DuckDB (over one million daily downloads), announced it will join Amazon Web Services. The acquisition is expected to close in early September 2026. The 30-person Amsterdam team stays intact and will continue developing DuckDB, DuckLake, and Quack. DuckDB remains MIT-licensed; the independent DuckDB Foundation retains project stewardship. The teams collaborated for over a year prior, including Amazon S3 Tables in March 2025.
