Albanese drops clean-energy rule for AI computing centres

Albanese has let Queensland and the Northern Territory off a rule that new AI datacentres — huge buildings packed with computers — must run on clean energy. Both refused to ban coal and gas. Days earlier, Chris Bowen threatened to force them using federal powers. Now the NT can use gas from the Beetaloo Basin; Queensland can burn fossil fuels at its own power stations.
