Albanese retreats on clean-power rule for AI datacentres

Albanese has exempted Queensland and the NT from requiring new AI datacentres — the massive computing facilities behind artificial intelligence — to run on renewables. Both refused to sign rules banning coal and gas. This reverses Chris Bowen's threat days earlier to force compliance using constitutional powers. The NT will draw on Beetaloo Basin gas; Queensland, its publicly-owned fossil-fuel generators.
