Instagram's New 'First Draft' Tool Automatically Edits Short Videos on iPhone

Instagram launched First Draft on August 25, 2026. The feature automatically trims clips and removes awkward pauses to create a quick first version of a Reel in under 10 seconds. It is available on iPhone from the in-app camera or Reels gallery. Similar tools already exist in Adobe Firefly's Quick Cuts and CapCut's Auto Cut.
