Watchdog: Police Searched Indigenous Teen After Knowing He Was the Wrong Person

A government watchdog found that police searched a 17-year-old Indigenous teen after officers already knew he was the wrong person. Officers pulled him off a Canberra bus at gunpoint in November 2025. The whole incident took under four minutes. The watchdog issued eight recommendations to improve police practices.
