Business group suggests government-run company for gas and coal plants

Business group GrowthNZ wants the government to own and run New Zealand's remaining gas and coal power plants. Co-chair Bowen Pan says power bills are high because shortages let expensive coal and gas set the price. The group says all companies should be able to buy backup power on equal terms. It would be a big change to a market sold off in the 1990s.
