
Pentagon Fires Three Newspaper Staff for Speaking Out Against Censorship
The Pentagon fired three leaders of Stars and Stripes, a military newspaper read by 1.4 million people daily. Editor Erik Slavin had told CBS that blocking news for troops was a "red line" — a limit he would not cross. The Pentagon, which helps fund the paper, called it insubordination. Slavin said he got no explanation and cannot appeal.
