UK Eyes Hosting the 2042 World Cup

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham wants the UK to host the men's World Cup — soccer's biggest global tournament — in 2042. The prime minister told regional mayors at a meeting in Manchester he would welcome it. The UK last hosted in 1966. A Downing Street source called it a "general ambition," not a formal bid commitment.
