Most Britons Believe Climate Change Causes Heatwaves, But Support for Emissions Cuts Is Falling
A poll by More in Common found that UK support for cutting greenhouse gas emissions to zero dropped from 68% in 2024 to 45% in 2026, while opposition nearly doubled to 23%. Meanwhile, 86% of Britons — including 73% of Reform party voters — say climate change is at least partly behind recent heatwaves. People increasingly believe the planet is warming but doubt the plans meant to fix it.
