Canada and U.S. scramble to finish trade deal before Saturday deadline

Canada's lead ministers planned to meet their U.S. counterpart in Washington Friday, just hours before a midnight Friday deadline. If no deal is signed, the U.S. will impose a 50-per-cent tax on about US$20-billion worth of Canadian goods entering the country. Trump said a deal was done but needed final wording; Carney said work remained.
