Government keeps rules that push cleaner cars into New Zealand

The government will keep rules that require car importers to bring in cleaner, lower-emissions vehicles. Transport Minister Chris Bishop said it was the cheapest way to do so. A review had considered dropping the rules. New targets start 1 January 2028, with current penalty rates staying until then.
