Senators Want Names of TikTok Staff Who Turned Off a Safety Feature

Senators Blackburn (R-TN) and Blumenthal (D-CT) sent TikTok a letter demanding the names of every employee who knew about an experiment that turned off a safety feature for roughly 15 million U.S. users. The feature limited how much harmful content people saw. TikTok wanted to find out whether the feature caused users to spend less time on the app. The senators called the experiment "depraved" and set a September 1 deadline.
