Waymo opens up about the computers inside its self-driving taxis

Waymo has revealed the trunk-mounted computers powering its self-driving taxis, including chip designs, processor specs, internal parts, and outside suppliers, for the first time. The August 20, 2026 blog post by VP of Engineering Satish Jeyachandran and Compute Lead Daniel Rosenband breaks from the company's long-standing secrecy. The system uses powerful processors to instantly combine data from cameras, lidar, and radar sensors.
