Waymo discloses robotaxi compute architecture and supplier list for the first time
Waymo has publicly detailed the trunk-mounted compute system powering its robotaxis — including chip architecture, processor specs, internal components, and third-party hardware suppliers — for the first time. The August 20, 2026 blog post, authored by VP of Engineering Satish Jeyachandran and Compute Lead Daniel Rosenband, breaks from the company's long-standing secrecy around its hardware stack. The system pairs server-grade CPUs and GPUs with accelerators to process camera, lidar, and radar inputs in real time.
