Russian Missiles Hit Kyiv, Killing at Least Nine as Attacks Worsen
Russian missiles hit Kyiv overnight on 19–20 August 2026, killing at least nine and wounding 33 across homes, a clinic, and a school, officials said. Earlier strikes on 31 July and 4 August killed 10 and 17. Ukraine's defences — tools meant to shoot down incoming weapons — have sometimes failed to stop ballistic missiles, which move so fast they are extremely difficult to catch in flight.
