Trucking group wants a single minister in charge of moving goods

The National Road Carriers association wants every party in the 2026 election to back a single minister for freight. NRC chief executive Justin Tighe-Umbers said roads, rail, ports, workers and energy are spread across separate ministers and agencies, so no one is in charge overall. He said Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom each have one freight minister.
