Greens want big fines if supermarkets charge too much

The Green Party wants a law stopping supermarkets from charging prices far above what goods cost plus a fair profit. Companies breaking the rule could be fined up to $10 million. Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick said supermarkets make over $1 million a day in profit and asked the Government to pass the law before the election. The bill needs backing from other parties to go ahead.
