Greens seek up to $10m fines for excessive supermarket pricing, urging coalition to act before election

The Green Party will place a member's bill in the ballot banning supermarkets from charging prices "excessive" relative to supply costs plus a fair margin, with penalties up to $10 million. Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick said supermarket profits exceed $1 million a day and urged the coalition to pass it before Parliament rises. Members' bills need cross-party support to advance.
