New South Wales starts buying back guns after Bondi Beach tragedy

New South Wales will pay gun owners up to AUS$1,000 to hand in weapons from 2 November 2026. It's the first state to act under national rules made after the December 2025 Bondi Beach attack, where 15 people were shot dead at a Hanukkah festival. Other states haven't started yet.
