Wildfire Reaches Homes in Stourbridge on UK's Hottest Day of 2026

A grassfire covering 16 hectares — roughly 22 football pitches — spread from near Stourbridge golf course into homes on 13 August 2026. Three firefighters and a child were hospitalised. Six homes were damaged, care home residents were evacuated, and over 60 firefighters were deployed. The fire started in several places at once and hit on the UK's hottest day, 38.1°C. Trains and roads were closed.
