NATO countries made their own rules for helping Afghan staff, report says

A report released Aug. 13, 2026, by Local Staff International and AfghanEvac found that during the Afghanistan evacuation, each NATO country set its own rules for resettling Afghans who had worked for them. Where an Afghan could go depended on which country had hired them — even though the mission appeared co-ordinated. The report, "The Allied Ledger," says governments should plan for such staff before future missions begin.
