Hybrid Cars Hit Record U.S. Sales While GM Offers Only Two — Both Sports Cars

Hybrid cars — which pair a gas engine with an electric motor — took a record 15.4 percent of U.S. car sales through June 2026, outselling fully electric vehicles nearly three to one. Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda dominate that market. GM sells just two hybrids, both Corvette sports cars built for speed, not fuel savings. GM is now rushing to add fuel-saving hybrids next year.
