Startup wants your water heater to help power the grid

Reservoir has raised $8M to build smart water heaters that double as a backup energy supply. The idea: link thousands of units together so they store extra renewable energy when plentiful and use less when the grid is strained. About 100 are installed today, with 1,000 targeted by end of 2027.
