Minnesota's Flanagan Wins Senate Primary Election

Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate on August 11, 2026, beating Rep. Angie Craig, the Associated Press reported. A primary is a party's contest to pick its nominee. Flanagan, a White Earth Band of Ojibwe member, would be the first Native American woman in the Senate. She faces Republican Michele Tafoya, a former NBC Sports broadcaster, in November.
