Minnesota's Flanagan Wins Democratic Senate Primary, Eyes Historic November Bid
Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan won the Democratic U.S. Senate primary on August 11, 2026, defeating Rep. Angie Craig, the Associated Press reported. Flanagan, a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, would become the first Native American woman in the U.S. Senate if elected in November. She faces Republican Michele Tafoya, a former NBC Sports broadcaster, in the general election for retiring Sen. Tina Smith's open seat.
