Flying Taxi Company Joby Buys Defense Firm for $500 Million
Joby Aviation, a company building electric air taxis, is buying Resonant Sciences, a defense firm, for $500 million — $450 million in cash and $50 million in stock. The deal should close in early 2027. Resonant, founded in 2015, brings 250 employees with government security clearance and experience across more than 20 aircraft types. Joby plans to use their expertise to build stealth aircraft, creating a new defense division alongside its air taxi business.
