Roku Opens Embedded OS to Developers on $5 Boards

Roku released Roku LT OS, a lightweight open-source operating system for embedded development on June 3, 2026. The OS runs on ESP32 microcontroller boards costing just a few dollars and is already deployed in Roku remote controls. The SDK is available on GitHub. The move targets automotive engineering, IoT, and industrial control applications requiring deterministic, real-time performance.
