Police Handcuffed Dying Stabbing Victim After Believing Attacker's False 999 Call

An 18-year-old Southampton student was handcuffed as he bled from stab wounds in December 2025 after police believed a false 999 call made by the attacker's brother. Vickrum Digwa, 23, falsely reported himself as the victim of a racist assault. Officers ignored Henry Nowak's pleas—bodycam shows him saying "I can't breathe" while restrained. Digwa received life with 21-year minimum. The force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
