Shadow Brokers Leaked NSA Cyber Weapons That Became WannaCry Ransomware

An unknown group calling itself The Shadow Brokers began publishing classified NSA hacking tools on August 13, 2016, including EternalBlue, a Windows vulnerability exploit. Within months of an April 2017 release providing broader access to the NSA archive, cybercriminals weaponized EternalBlue into WannaCry ransomware. The resulting May 2017 attack infected 150+ countries, crippling hospitals and infrastructure worldwide. The NSA has never publicly acknowledged developing the leaked tools.
