Stolen U.S. Hacking Tools Turned Into WannaCry Ransomware Attack

An unknown group released classified U.S. government hacking tools in 2016. Criminals used one tool, called EternalBlue, to create WannaCry ransomware in 2017. The attack spread across 150 countries in May 2017, shutting down hospitals and critical services. The U.S. government has never publicly confirmed it created the original tools.
