Single CAR-T Dose Suppressed HIV for Up to Two Years Without Medication
Caring Cross's Phase I/IIa trial achieved sustained viral suppression in two patients after a single infusion of engineered CAR-T cells—one for nearly a year, the other nearly two years—without antiretroviral therapy. Dr. Steven Deeks presented the data at the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy meeting. The therapy uses patients' own T cells, genetically modified with duoCAR technology to target HIV-infected cells directly. Early results suggest the approach works best in patients who started antiretroviral treatment early.
