
Amazon Deploys Generative AI Across Shopping at Scale
Amazon launched AI Shopping Guides across 100+ product categories in October 2024, building on its July rollout of Rufus, a text-based AI assistant. The guides use generative AI to tailor product recommendations for TVs, shoes, dog food, and moisturizers. Rufus, available to all US customers via smartphone app, operates as a chatbot interface after five months of testing. Both tools integrate Amazon's product data and customer behavior patterns into conversational, context-aware purchasing advice.
