Stuart Nash resigns as NZ First candidate over sexist maternity leave comments

Former Labour minister Stuart Nash has resigned as a NZ First candidate after calling National's Napier MP Katie Nimon "lazy" for taking maternity leave. She took six months after having a baby; Nash claimed nine months at full pay. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon called the comments "sexist" and ruled Nash out of any ministerial role. Winston Peters accepted the resignation.
