Officials told minister biometric project was 'achievable' — IQA reports said they doubted it would 'deliver at all'

A 19 March 2024 briefing told Immigration Minister Erica Stanford the $35 million Biometric Capability Upgrade was "achievable" and "sound and robust." Nine days later, her office received the full independent quality assurance reports, which stated: "we have doubts as to whether the project will in fact deliver at all, and we question its continuation." The project was stopped in 2025.
